2010 End of Vintage Party
another successful and fun party was held here on sunday night to celebrate the end of the 2010 Harvest. We were delighted to see all our mates from wineries from all accross Hawkes Bay - Peter Gough from  Ngatarawa took out the Salsa dancing comp, John Kemble amazed us all with his new 'ink', John Hancock, Warren Gibson and Lorraine Leheny supplied us with some stunning drops,  Te Awa sent a beautiful Italien to represent, Rod McDonald dropped in to sample some of the Grand Cru's once they had been opened... all in all a lovely evening of empanadas, paella, and exceptional wines.... just how we like it!
Thanks to everybody for coming out and supporting us throughout the vintage - it has been a real treat to see you all so often. Wino Wednesdays were such a success we will be sure to run them again next year. To all you international cellar rats; be sure to keep in touch with your adventures, and see you next year!

DELICIOSA IS THE WINNER

of the

2009 SIGNATURE DISH

casual category

HB Signature Dish 2009
Hawke’s Bay has the reputation as new zealand's top food and wine destination, this event is the perfect opportunity to showcase both elements.  during this annual six week event the regions top hospitality establishments and their leading chefs take part in a regional bonanza, showcasing the best of our region’s food and wine to find the Hawke’s Bay’s regional signature dish.  The Hawke’s Bay regional signature dish represents the best selection of hawke’s bay food products brought together by local chefs and matched with a Hawke’s Bay beverage.

deliciosa’s signature dish is a rustic, french style jugged (slow cooked) rabbit.  The rabbit, supplied by vetro, has been boned then stuffed with minced pork belly & fresh hawke’s bay apples & marinated in ballydooly red cider.  It is finished w ‘the deli’ pancetta, te mata mushrooms, epicurean supplies organic thyme & cream. served w crusty harald’s french bread.  download recipe here

The wine match for this dish is the bilancia 2001 merlot/malbec. The eight years bottle age have enhanced the secondary characteristics & complexity while softening the tannins. This more european tradition of drinking well-matured wine is well suited to the peasant/rustic style of the jugged rabbit and for this dish will be served in a stemless wine glass.
